LiveSession in MediaBoxes

Have you ever wanted to review MediaBox files with your team in real time? Now you can—LiveSession is now available in MediaBox! This powerful collaboration feature is an enterprise add-on for Company Network plans and above. LiveSession is supported across all three MediaBox types. Even guests without Ci accounts can participate—if the MediaBox is shared as Protected or Public, they’ll simply need to enter their name, email address, and the MediaBox password to join the session.

Open or Create a MediaBox

For guidance on how to create a MediaBox, please visit the following support article in our Help Center: Create MediaBoxes Screenshot 2024-01-22 at 3.43.47 PM.png. If you have an existing MediaBox, open it, and select a file for preview:

Starting a LiveSession

Next, select the Start LiveSession button near the upper-right corner of the playback window. A modal will appear with a share link that you can send to your team members, or external collaborators (since the MediaBox in this example is a Secure MediaBox, the messaging outlines that only members with existing Ci account can join the LiveSession). To finish, select Start LiveSession:

Making Comments

From the preview, open the context panel by clicking the Screen_Shot_2022-04-13_at_12.34.11_PM.png icon near the bottom-right corner of the player. Next, select the Comments tab. To make a comment while a LiveSession is in progress, start typing in the comment box. To submit the comment you can either press Enter on the keyboard or select the Screen_Shot_2022-04-13_at_1.00.25_PM.png icon.

All Workspace members can view, reply and follow comments. Members who write or follow comments on a file will receive email notifications when there are new comments or replies. To opt-into following comments select the Screen_Shot_2022-04-13_at_12.54.18_PM.png icon. Alternatively, to opt-out select the Bell icon to unfollow the comments. Comments made on video files are tied to the time-code. Workspace members can mark comments as resolved and hide or unhide resolved comments. To mark a comment as resolved select the Screen_Shot_2022-04-13_at_1.15.16_PM.png icon. Alternatively, select this icon to un-resolve a comment. Clicking comments will jump the playhead to the timestamp where the comment was made:

In certain cases, files that are shared in MediaBoxes may have existing comments added to it by Workspace members. In order to disable Workspace comments from being seen by recipients in a MediaBox, navigate to the MediaBox settings and ensure the Show comments made in Workspace toggle is off. To save your settings, select Apply changes:

Time-range Commenting

Time-range commenting is available for video and audio files. To create a time-range comment, create a comment and before publishing, select the Screen_Shot_2022-08-22_at_4.15.22_PM.png icon located below the timeline. Click-and-drag the right handle to adjust the length of the comment Screen_Shot_2022-08-22_at_4.15.53_PM.png. After the time-range is specified, publish the comment. While a time-range comment is selected, the playhead will jump to the beginning of the comment ready for playback. When the playhead reaches the end of the comment, playback will pause.

- Please note that the duration/range for a comment can only be edited while the comment is being made. After the comment is published, the comment itself can be edited/updated, but the duration/range will remain the same:

Making Annotation Comments

The following annotation comments are available:

— Pin annotation

— Draw annotation

— Box annotation

— Circle annotation

— Arrow annotation

Aside from the Pin annotation, each one is able to have it's color & line width adjusted before making the annotation. Users also have the option to Undo or Redo annotations.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • There can only be one concurrent LiveSession per MediaBox

  • When reviewing multiple files in the MediaBox, use the < > chevrons to view the next file.

    • Hitting the ← to return to the MediaBox browser page will automatically force users to leave the LiveSession

  • LiveSession participants are capped at 64 users

  • No ephemeral point tool (“Live Pen”) (We are looking to have this in future releases, so make sure to stay updated!)

  • Playlist view is not available on LiveSession

  • Users cannot browse folders without leaving the LiveSession
